There are over 10,000 fatalities each year or an average of over one death each hour from drunk driving in this country, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Unfortunately, certain drivers are more prone to engage in drunk driving than others. Specific vehicle models attract these drivers, according to Insurify.
Problem persists
The national drunk driving rate dropped each year because of more stringent laws in all 50 states and the publicity efforts of anti-drunk driving organizations. But almost 30 percent of all vehicle deaths in this country over the last two years came from alcohol impairment.
In this country, 17.9 of every 1,000 drivers have at least one DUI citation in their driving record. Almost one in five people killed in alcohol-related accidents, however, involved a motorist with a BAC under the legal limit 0.08 percent.
Findings
Six pickups trucks were among the top ten vehicles on the list of vehicles used by drunk drivers. The Ford-F-Series, however, is not among the top 10 but falls within the top 50 models with the moist DUIs with 40 percent more drunk driving citations than the national average.
According to Insurify, rude motorists and drunk drivers may prefer similar cars. The only four vehicles on the list that are not pickup trucks were also listed in an earlier Insurify study of car models with the rudest drivers. That list’s criteria included failure to stop citations, improper backing, prohibited passing, tailgating, street racing and hit-and-runs.
Most DUIs
From its analysis of over 2.7 million car insurance applications, Insurify listed the 10 models with the most DUIs:

The Subaru WRX, sixth on the DUI list, received other attention. It is the car model with the most speeding citations, the fourth rudest driving behaviors and is the third most accident prone.
